Do you offer an in-home measuring and quotation service?
Yes. Gelmar offers a professional in-home measuring and quotation service for blinds and window décor solutions.
This service is available within a 50 km radius of the major metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, subject to availability.
If you are located outside these areas, we may still be able to assist. Additional travel charges may apply and will be quoted before the appointment is confirmed.
Is there a fee for the in-home measuring service?
A call-out fee may apply depending on your location and the service required. Any applicable fees will be communicated and agreed upon before your appointment is scheduled.
Do you offer installation services?
Yes. Professional installation services are available for all qualifying window décor products.
Installation services are available within a 50 km radius of the major metropolitan areas of Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town, subject to availability.
How is installation charged?
Installation is charged at a standard call-out fee, with an additional surcharge for each blind installed beyond the initial blind covered by the call-out fee.
Your consultant will provide a detailed installation quotation before work commences.
What warranty is included with ready-made blinds?
All ready-made blinds are covered by a 24-month manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
If a manufacturing defect occurs within 24 months of purchase, and valid proof of purchase is provided, Gelmar may, at its discretion:
Repair the product;
Replace the product or defective component;
Exchange the product for one of the same value; or
Refund the original purchase price.
Products may be assessed to determine whether the fault is due to a manufacturing defect.
What does the ready-made blind and custom express blind warranty cover?
The warranty covers:
Manufacturing defects in materials;
Defects in workmanship;
Broken components resulting from normal use of the product.
What is not covered by the ready-made blind and custom express blind warranty?
The warranty does not cover:
Damage caused by lightning, electrical faults, or power surges;
Fading or discolouration caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight;
Damage caused by insects or pests;
Misuse, negligence, abuse, or improper operation;
Incorrect cleaning or maintenance;
Coastal corrosion or environmental damage;
Accidental damage;
Unauthorised repairs or alterations;
Normal wear and tear.
What warranty is included with custom-made blinds?
All made-to-measure blinds are covered by a 3-year manufacturing warranty from the date of dispatch.
If a manufacturing defect is identified during the warranty period, Gelmar will, at its discretion, repair or replace the defective blind and cover the associated labour and material costs.
Any manufacturing fault should be reported to the store where the blind was purchased.
Are colour changes or slight warping covered under warranty?
No. Certain natural changes may occur over time and are not considered manufacturing defects.
These may include:
Minor fading or discolouration of Basswood or Plaswood blinds;
Slight warping caused by environmental conditions;
Temporary warping of Plaswood blinds exposed to direct sunlight.
What is not covered by the custom-made blind warranty?
The custom-made blind warranty does not cover:
Misuse, neglect, or improper handling;
Damage caused by incorrect installation;
Normal wear and tear;
Plaswood blinds installed in windows exposed to constant direct sunlight;
Damage resulting from failure to follow product care and operating instructions.
What happens if my original blind, material, or colour is no longer available?
If the original product, material, finish, or colour is no longer available, Gelmar will offer a suitable alternative solution at its discretion.
Do I need proof of purchase for a warranty claim?
Yes. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims. We recommend keeping your receipt or invoice in a safe place for future reference.
